ART OF BOARD PARTNERS WITH MODASTEN EYEWEAR TO LAUNCH RECYCLED SKATEBOARD SUNGLASSES COLLABORATION November 30 2014

The high-end collection was made solely from skateboard decks collected through I Ride I Recycle

Orange County, CA (December 1, 2014) – Art of Board, a lifestyle and design brand known for its hard surface tiles made from recycled skateboard decks, has partnered with Modasten, a Florida-based sunglasses company, to create a high-quality, truly original, and eco-friendly sunglasses collection. This sunglasses line will be available for purchase beginning Cyber Monday, December 1 through the Modasten website and in select skate and surf shops in the U.S. The collection was created from skateboard decks collected through Art of Board’s first-ever international skateboard recycling movement, I Ride I Recycle, making them truly authentic and part of a revolutionary recycling story.

In the massive market of the action sports and sunglasses industry, Art of Board and Modasten stand out as a collaboration that’s not only artful and unique, but also superior in quality, fit and detail. Each pair is one-of-a-kind, with high-quality polarized lenses by Carl Zeiss Vision, and flexi-hinges that comfortably adjust to each wearer.

“The only way Art of Board was going into this category was if we could find a partner that could make a superior product,” said Rich Moorhead, Founder of Art of Board. “Being able to marry the highest-quality possible with our values of reusing and recycling makes it a stand out product and adds another level of originality to our authentic designs.”

Producing this truly original collection coincides with Art of Board’s tagline: “Authenticity is not dead.” The sunglasses are just one more way Art of Board tells the true, passionate story of skateboarding, as each pair is a tangible result of skateshops and individual riders around the U.S. being part of the I Ride I Recycle movement.

The collaboration offers customers and retailers SEVEN different styles and two different colored lenses from which to choose. Each pair is made from 100% recycled skateboard wood at a retail price of $129.

“We were developing the idea of making sunglasses out of used skateboards for almost 2 years when we met up with Art of Board,” said Gil Dror, cofounder at Modasten. “Our similar ideals and determination to create top-quality optics out of recycled skateboard decks led to a collaboration that we are very proud of. We’re confident that Modasten's experience in the high-end sunglass world combined with the authenticity of the Art of Board brand and its respected recycling movement will add an exciting new dimension to the eyewear industry.”
