ART OF BOARD PARTNERS WITH ODINA SURF TO LAUNCH ECO-FRIENDLY, ARTISAN BOARDSHORT December 04 2014

The recycled material incorporates recycled skateboard imagery creating a unique and special story with every pair

Orange County, CA (December 4, 2014) – Art of Board, a lifestyle and design brand known for its hard surface tiles made from recycled skateboard decks, has partnered with Odina Surf, a sustainable swimwear company for active women, to create a line of truly original and eco-friendly men’s and women’s boardshorts.

Made in California from recycled polyester, this short is truly a work of art. Tried and tested by professional surfers on the Big Island of Hawaii to ensure superior quality and function, this eco-friendly water short is designed for performance. Art of Board's all over recycled skate tile pattern celebrates the true story and lifestyle of riding hard.

Art of Board and Odina are now taking pre-orders for summer 2015. A limited amount of men’s only shorts are currently available at VB Surf in Venice Beach, CA and through Art of Board’s online store at artofboard.com. The women’s short is now available at Kona Boys Surf Shop in Kealakekua, HI with more retailers to come.

In the massive market of the action sports industry, incorporating actual recycled skateboard deck graphics into an apparel line has never been done before. Producing this truly original merchandise coincides with Art of Board’s tagline: “Authenticity is not dead.”

“Working with Odina Surf on this project made perfect sense for both of our companies,” said Bruce Boul, VP and Cofounder of Art of Board. “Being able to create these boardshorts with a company that values sustainability and recycling materials as much as we do adds even more originality to our authentic recycled skateboard deck designs.”

The boardshorts are made from 86% recycled post-consumer waste and are designed for optimal performance when being active in the water, integrating and eco-friendly materials with an active lifestyle. “These could be the best shorts I have ever worn,” said Abraham Shouse, professional Stand Up Paddler from Hawaii. The 4-way stretch shorts feature Art of Board’s original all over recycled skateboard tile pattern.

"We couldn’t be more excited about this collaboration with Art of Board,” said Aaron Taylor, Marketing Director of Odina Surf. “Getting a chance to work with such great people to make such amazing products, all while advancing our green initiative, just puts a smile on my face. It’s a great feeling to produce something that’s not only eco-friendly, but also made right here at home in the USA.”
