The emerging company’s recycled skateboard tile adds bold aesthetic to Sunset News and New Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse

Los Angeles, CA (June 9, 2015) – Art of Board, a brand known for its one-of-a-kind, artisan tile surfaces, textiles and wall coverings inspired by skateboarding, has made their mark on Westfield’s redevelopment of LAX’s Terminal 6 – inspired by Los Angeles’ famed Sunset Boulevard – with tile design installations made from used, recycled skateboards.

Creating a relaxing yet luxurious and dramatic environment, Art of Board brings the new Sunset News retailer alive with a melee of color that takes retail design to a whole new level of storytelling – integrating texture and creating a tactile experience customers will never forget. For Virgin Atlantic flyers, they get a brand new, exclusive clubhouse designed with Art of Board’s earth-friendly ceramic subway tiles.

Hailed as one of Material ConneXion’s top five most innovative and green materials, according to Interior Design Media, Art of Board’s mesh mounted artisan wood surfaces wrap two columns and scale a large wall and ceiling in the newly constructed Sunset News space, while the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse restrooms are adorned with Art of Board’s ceramic skateboard tiles.

Collected through Art of Board’s national skateboard recycling movement, I Ride I Recycle, the designs set an authentic and sustainable tone for the airport. The Sunset News space includes 325 square feet of tile, which equates to approximately 300 recycled skateboard decks or 420 pounds of wood waste that otherwise would have gone to landfills.
